You know how every now and then a random thought will pop into your head? Or how every now and then that thought triggers an avalanche of different thoughts, all bouncing off the walls inside your brain? And then you come to some conclusion that follows absolutely no rational thought process? That happened to me tonight, and I'm really glad it did.
I need to remember to tell my boss I need January 5 off-->my vacation time is super limited now-->I wonder if this will be a good time to take time off being so new at the company-->I kind of wish I had the time to spend New Years in Washington DC-->I love Washington DC-->maybe I could go to Vegas for New Years->Maybe I should just stay here. It could be fun here-->started talking to RSD-->RSD did a Triathalon with a girl wearing a pink swimming cap-->this same girl also did a polar bear swim on New Years Day a few years ago-->I could do a polar bear swim-->except a polar bear swim will be WICKED cold-->HEY! ISN'T A POLAR BEAR SWIM ON MY 30 THINGS LIST?!?-->it IS on the list-->I'm doing the polar bear swim this January 1.
So I'll take the plunge. Not "THE" plunge, although I really wouldn't mind a matrimonial immersion. No, I'll brave the frigid waters. Wow, I'm getting cold just thinking about it. So why, do you ask, am I happy to take a freezing dip to start of the new year? Because this random thought process brought me back to my 30 things list. I love this list. I think it's the best thing I've done for me in a long time.
Speaking of lists, I thought I'd repost it again. Not so much for the benefit of my three (thanks!) readers, but for me. A simple reminder of the cool things I promised myself I'd do before I turn 30. I'm down to 17 now...crazy crazy crazy.

This is so funny - yesterday we drove past a sign advertising a polar bear plunge, and we said something like "Who ARE these crazy people that do such things?!" Oh, it's you! Good luck, you'll never catch me doing that, I'm allergic to cold water.
{PS I couldn't help but notice the part about you spending new years in DC... maybe next year? You always have a couch!}
Have I told you lately how awesome you are?
